True Phrases

On a piece of paper, the following phrases are written. Determine which of them are true and which of them are not:

   (1) Only one is true on this piece
   (2) Only two of them are true
   (3) Only three of them are true
    .
    .
    .
   (50) Only fifty of them are true
Answer
Only the first phrase is true. If there is only “one true”, then the rest has to be false. If for example you assume the 3rd phrase to be true, then two more phrases have to be true (for the 3rd phrase to be true). Any other two phrases you select will make the 3rd phrase false. The same logic can be applied for phrases 2 to 50.
